Final Fantasy 16's producer, Naoki Yoshida, made a confusing statement about the game's release on PC during a live stream. Final Fantasy, which was made by Square Enix (then Square) in 1987 with little expectations, was considered a regular game series in Japan until the fourth game. But after the fourth game became popular in Europe and the US, the Final Fantasy series suddenly became a worldwide phenomenon.

Final Fantasy 16, announced at a PS5 event in 2020, also created a lot of excitement like the other games in the series. But this year, the producer made a statement that angered PC players when the release date was confirmed.

Although all trailers for FF 16 have indicated that the game will be exclusive to the PlayStation, the text below the trailers says "Also available on PC." Additionally, officials from Square Enix, the game's producer and distributor, have repeatedly said that the game will be released first on PlayStation consoles and then available for sale on PC a few months later. Even a DualSense controller advertisement from PlayStation in Japan clearly stated that the game would be exclusive to the PS5 for only the first 6 months.

During the Final Fantasy 14 New Year Tournament in Japan, the game's producer, Naoki Yoshida (Yoshi-P) was asked when the game will be released on PC, he replied with "No one said the game would be released on PC. Why would you think the game would come out on PC six months later? Go buy a PlayStation 5."

Of course, it is not surprising that Sony and Square Enix, both based in Japan, support each other. Additionally, many popular games in Japan are only available on PS5. The main reason for this is that Japanese gamers primarily play on consoles, rather than purchasing Xbox or PC. However, when it comes to games like Final Fantasy which is world-renowned and expected by millions of players, it is expected that a company like Square Enix will release the game on PC to make players happy.
